The fields, meadows, ridge tops and hillsides of the Mad River Valley provide excellent habitat for Northern Forest species including Bicknell's Thrush , Scarlet Tanager and Black-throated Blue Warbler. Local birding enthusiasts will lead walks all year and welcome you to join them! Contact the Mad Birders for details. The spring migration will welcome the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Common Yellowthroat, Indigo Bunting, and Meadowlark back to our Valley. Take a short ride to Audubon Vermont's Green Mountain Audubon Center in nearby Huntington featuring 5 miles of birding trails, a butterfly garden and a sensory trail. The North Branch Nature Center has additional information..

Mad Birders 2007 Schedule
Mad Birders is an informal group of birding enthusiasts of Vermont's Mad River Valley and adjacent areas. We welcome birders of all ages and abilities to join us on our walks. Meet at Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce building (Wait House). We leave promptly at the time posted.
Walks may be through wet areas, so wear sturdy, waterproof footwear and dress in layers for cool, rainy conditions. Walks are scheduled for 2 hours (unless otherwise noted), with 15-30 minutes built-in travel time.
Snacks and water are a good idea, please leave pets at home.
Walks are free for Mad Birder members with a $5 suggested donation for others. We hope you will join us.
Check our website (madbirders.org) or contact Pat Folsom (496-3663, pfols@gmavt.net), Nancy Turner (496-2523), or Jeannie Elias
(moosewoman@madriver.com) for further information. |
